I Recently Held an Employee Engagement Event With Management and Marketing Professionals

I had the wonderful opportunity thanks to Nancy Andrie, the Sales and Marketing Director at the Residence at Five Corners to speak with management and marketing professionals from several different communities about the turnover crisis the senior living industry is facing. I began by asking them to reflect on their first day’s experiences and share those memories with the group. It brought up great dialogue on the realities of how they were treated on their first day, what went wrong, what went right, and what they wished was offered to them for support.

I shared statistics on turnover costs that the industry is facing as well as the introduction of the Millennials and what that means for the industry. I gave them key elements of the book and explained how to hang on to their employees within the first 90 days of a new hire. I also gave them engagement tips and simple exercises to create a more engaged workforce. As we wrapped up, we discussed the challenges the industry is facing and how it ultimately affects the residents and how employee engagement is the key to a successful community that provides high quality resident care.
